Mentor Training: Wrap Up Your Season

Congratulations!

You’ve reached the end of this season of Technovation Girls . You’ve spent a lot of time with your team, so it is important to be intentional about ending your time together.

In this module, we will share  strategies to ensure a successful end to your season.

What if we didn't submit?

Celebrate

Dedicate time in the final meeting to celebrate the team’s accomplishments. Recognize their
hard work, creativity, and dedication throughout the program!

Consider various celebration ideas such as enjoying snacks, playing games, or inviting friends, family, or other community supporters to hear about their project.

Review the Judging Process

Discuss how the project will be evaluated and review the results selection process.
We recommend staying in touch with your team throughout this process.

Manage Expectations

Acknowledge the excitement and potential disappointment associated with competition
results. Your team is one of thousands across the world who are competing for limited finalist
positions.

Let students know that it is OK for the team to discuss their feelings and celebrate
their accomplishments, regardless of the outcome.

Encourage Reflection

Allocate time for the team to reflect on their experience and personal growth. Prompt them to
consider the skills and lessons they’ve gained beyond technical knowledge, such as teamwork
and communication. Encourage students to think about things they enjoyed about the program and areas they’d like to see improve.

Students and mentors should complete the post-season survey on the platform so that we can continue to improve Technovation Girls in the future!

Discuss Next Steps

Your Future as a Mentor: Before your final meeting, think about whether or not you are open to
being a mentor for the team the next season. Communicate with students and
parents/guardians about your plans for the future.

Students: Prompt the team to think about future plans. Students can consider participating in
future seasons if they want to build on their project or try to solve a different problem.

Technovation also offers robust programming for alumnae. Students are considered an
alumna once they have participated in one season of the program. Encourage girls to join the Alumnae mailing list, where they will hear about educational opportunities, events, and more. Have girls explore our Alumnae program offerings to discover alumnae leadership opportunities, and the LinkedIn Page for alumnae 16+.
