Mini-Technovation

Mini Technovation

A quick & easy intro to Technovation Girls

Introduce girls to the power of technology as a tool for change

Through Technovation Girls, young people imagine a better world and design tech solutions to make that vision a reality.

Starting now, you can do a trial run of Technovation Girls through the new "Mini Technovation" program.

About Mini Technovation

Mini Technovation is a short version of the full Technovation Girls program. Students will identify a problem they care about, brainstorm tech solutions, design an app prototype, and pitch their solutions.

Mini-Technovation consists of:

  • Four 1-hour-long learning sessions
  • One rapid design process
  • One pitch showcase

You will receive access to lesson plans, activity sheets, and slides to guide you through the entire mini-program.

Why run "Mini Technovation"?

Mini Technovation gives students an exciting and empowering introduction to how they can use technology to solve big problems. And because it's a short program, it's a low-lift way for program leaders to pilot Technovation.

We hope this smaller version of the program prepares organizations to eventually offer the full Technovation Girls program to their students.

Eligibility and Requirements

Mini Technovation can be run with all youth ages 8-18.

Technovation's mission is to empower girls to become leaders, technology innovators and real-world problem solvers. While we maintain this focus, Mini Technovation is open to youth of all genders. See our Diversity Equity and Inclusion statement.

Devices are optional

Students do not need to have access to devices in order to participate. We offer two versions of Mini Technovation:

  1. One version includes some basic coding, which requires that students have access to devices.
  2. Another version is "unplugged" and does not require devices for students. However, the facilitator will need a device and means of projecting Slides.

Timing

Mini Technovation can be run any time during the year. (The full Technovation Girls program runs from October to May, and student registration closes in March.)
