School Spotlight: Edgewood students create parent-friendly app

Busy Edgewood Campus School parents could have an easier job getting their children to and from after-school activities thanks to an app created by some students.

Five girls from Edgewood Campus School participated in the 2014 Technovation Challenge, a program run by Iridescent, an education non-profit based in California. For the contest, teams of girls identify a problem, create an app to solve it, code the app, build a company to launch the app in the market and pitch their plan — all in 12 weeks. The 2014 Challenge required teams to develop an app that solves a problem in their local community.
