In this module, we’ll review the program’s objectives, structure, and key components. Understanding these elements will enable you to effectively communicate with your stakeholders, and ensure successful implementation and participation in the Technovation journey.

What do girls do in this program?
Girls ages 8–18 work with Mentors to create technology-based solutions and businesses that tackle real challenges in their communities by doing the following:

Identify a problem in their local or global community

Record a pitch video and technical video to showcase their ideas

Submit their project to Technovation's global competition
Our Age Divisions

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
FORM TEAMS
Students form teams of 1-5 girls who want to solve a problem together
GUIDED LEARNING
Teams learn from the curriculum guided by Mentors who might be teachers, staff, or volunteers
BUILD A SOLUTION
Teams design a web or mobile app solution & complete all their project components
SUBMIT A PROJECT
Teams submit their projects to our global competitions & receive feedback from Judges
What Technovation Girls Make
- A mobile app or web app
As part of their submission, students will build an app for a real community problem and share its source code and AI tools. Take a look at the some of the apps past teams have submitted in the Technovation App Gallery.
- Pitch Video
Teams will produce a short video that introduces their app, explains the problem it solves, and makes a compelling case for why their solution works.
- Business Canvas or User Adoption Plan
This document outlines how students plan to bring their solution to market and/or how they’ve gathered and applied user feedback to refine their product and grow their user base.
(Required for Senior and Junior Division teams)
- Technical Video
This video will walk through how the app functions, covering the development process, AI integration (if applicable), and future enhancements based on user feedback.

Intellectual Property
Any apps, prototypes or businesses developed for Technovation are the intellectual property of student participants.
Volunteers and Technovation do NOT have intellectual property rights to the ideas, apps, student-generated databases, business canvases and user adoption plans.
Safety
Technovation is committed to maintaining a safe environment for students. Please review & ensure your participants follow these internet safety guidelines.
THE GLOBAL COMPETITION
- Every team receives personalized feedback and scores from a panel of industry experts to help them grow and improve.
- Special prizes and scholarships are awarded to outstanding teams, including regional winners.
- Top-scoring global finalists are invited to pitch their projects live at the World Summit, our signature international event.
- Finalists have the opportunity to network with mentors, peers, and industry leaders from around the world.
THE ROLE OF CLUB AMBASSADORS
Club Ambassadors play a crucial role in the success of Technovation in their local communities. Key responsibilities include:
Determine When & Where the Program Will Happen
Club Ambassadors are responsible for planning the program schedule and choosing a location that is accessible and welcoming to participants. This may include schools, after school program sites, libraries, community centers, or virtual platforms.
Identify Volunteers to Serve as Mentors
Identify Mentors, who may be staff or volunteers to guide students through the program. Look for individuals with experience in STEM, business, education, or youth leadership. Consider partnering with local universities, tech companies, or nonprofits to build a strong volunteer base.
Recruit & Oversee Student Teams
Your role includes promoting the program, supporting registration, and helping teams stay on track. Encourage participation by reaching out to schools, youth clubs, and parent networks. Once teams are registered, help them connect with mentors, access resources, and monitor their progress toward submission.
Serve as the Main Point of Contact
As a Club Ambassador, you’ll act as the primary liaison between Technovation and your local community. Share success stories, photos, and feedback regularly. If you encounter challenges, or want to meet to discuss anything with Technovation staff, reach out to your contact at volunteers@technovation.org
