Regional Pitch Event Judges

Judging for Regional Pitch Events

Review girls' technology solutions at Regional Pitch Events

Regional Pitch Event Judges attend in-person Regional Pitch Events (RPEs) and provide feedback and scores to local teams of girls on their technological solutions to community problems.

You will watch teams pitch their ideas live, ask them follow-up questions, and evaluate each team against a standardized rubric. Your scores will help determine the 2025 Technovation Girls Semifinalists.

You do not need to be a mobile expert or have a technical background to be a judge.

Please note: Regional Pitch Event Judges must be recruited by Chapter Ambassadors in their region. You cannot apply to be a Regional Pitch Event Judge through this page.

Time Commitment

The time commitment will vary for each event, but a good estimate is that you will spend approximately 8 hours in total as an RPE judge:

4-5 hours for event prep + 2-5 hours for judging at the event

Regional Pitch Events will take place between May 8th - June 2nd 2025

About Regional Pitch Events

Regional Pitch Events are an important part of the Technovation Girls Competition

Regional Pitch Events (RPEs) are in-person events that gather 8 or more teams for a day of pitching and celebration.

RPEs are organized by Chapter Ambassadors and other local volunteers. They can answer specific questions about their events.

RPEs are part of the 1st round of judging for the competition. Top-scoring teams from this first round of judging will advance to the semifinal round of the competition.

RPE's are typically half-day or full-day events, and provide girls with the opportunity to share their ideas, practice public speaking, and make vital connections with their peers and supporters.

Each RPE is unique, so if you have questions about your event or responsibilities as a Judge, please contact your local Chapter Ambassador.

What to expect as Regional Pitch Event Judge

Each RPE is unique and will have its own schedule, which your Chapter Ambassador will share with you. But in general, you can expect the following as an RPE Judge:

Before the event

  • Register as a Judge with Technovation and complete your Judge Training
    • Your Chapter Ambassador may provide an additional training with more information on the local expectations and competition
  • After you register, you will receive a message from your Chapter Ambassador with specific information about the event
    • This will include information about when and where the event is, how to prepare, responsibilities and expectations etc.
  • Prepare for the event according to your Chapter Ambassador's instructions

During the event

  • Participate in an orientation about the judging process and how to submit scores online
  • Watch all teams pitch their ideas live. Ask questions and provide feedback to each team.
  • After all teams have pitched, Judges will discuss and decide which team(s) will move forward
  • Enter your scores for teams into the online Technovation platform

Who can be a Regional Pitch Event Judge

  • Regional Pitch Event Judges are recruited by Chapter Ambassadors
  • To prevent conflicts of interest, active Mentors, Chapter Ambassadors, and Club Ambassadors cannot be judges.

You cannot sign up to be a Regional Pitch Event Judge on this page—you must be invited by a Chapter Ambassador.

If you have not been invited to judge at an RPE, you can sign up to be a virtual judge and review submissions online.

Please do not contact Technovation staff about opportunities to be an in-person Judge. Decisions about in-person judging are made by Chapter Ambassadors.
